About The Founder/Director
Buell, who grew up in Sumter, SC, became fascinated with the paranormal at an early age. As editor of his high school paper, Buell regularly reported on supernatural activity within the area, investigating old churches, cemeteries and plantations during the weekends.
In 2001, Buell founded the Penn State Paranormal Research Society, a student-based club dedicated to exploring the paranormal. Within a few years, he was considered by many to be the youngest, professional paranormal investigator in the country. In 2006, Buell agreed to allow A&E to film their investigations for a show that would eventually be called, “Paranormal State.” In December 2007, Buell and PRS entered the national spotlight with the debut of “State,” which debuted with over 2 million viewers, making it an instant hit. Buell and co. recently finished season five of “Paranormal State,” where he also served as co-executive producer.
Buell received his first Bachelor’s degree in 2006 at Penn State. He is currently finishing a second degree. In September 2010, Buell published his first book, which is already in its fourth printing. Buell also serves as co-creator and executive producer for “The Ghost Prophecies” and the documentary film, “American Ghost Hunter.”
Buell continues to investigate and serve as director for PRS.
When Buell isn’t investigating the unexplained, he enjoys hiking with his puppy, Xander and getting in to trouble with Sergey (a former Soviet infant spy, codename ‘KGB’). Buell travels frequently around the world and is an avid movie junkie.
