April 22 UFO Traffic Report
Article by Roger Marsh
Triangle UFOs dominated UFO Traffic this past week as new sightings were reported across the country from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
But this week we are also reporting on UFOs with contrails in California and Missouri; a cigar-shaped UFO over Oklahoma; flashing colored lights in Kentucky; a boomerang-shaped UFO over Minnesota; a rectangle-shaped UFO over California; reports of military helicopters moving disc UFOs from Washington; witnesses observing UFOs near the moon from Arziona and Florida; erratic lights over Hawaiian skies; and an electric blue flash followed by a sighting of a diamond-shaped UFO over California.
A Lansing, MI, family is baffled by two silent objects that flew just 200 feet above the tree line and traveled 50 to 60 mph. The incident occurred between 11 and 11:30 p.m., April 11, 2011, as the first object moved from the northeast to the southwest.
While the witnesses had a hard time describing the first object – saying it looked like to objects stacked one on the other – the second craft was described as triangle in shape.
An Indiana witness came forward April 14, 2011, with a video and report detailing three, large lights forming a triangle shape.
The witness was driving on February 20, 2011, when two red lights were spotted in the sky, and then a third light.
“My first impression was that they were the beacon lights on some radio towers, but I knew that there were no towers where the lights were,” the witness stated. “I slowed down to look closer and realized that there were three lights forming a triangle and they were slowly moving North.”
Then a second set of lights forming a triangle was noticed behind this first set.

A new witness came forward April 13, 2011, from a North Carolina case with multiple witnesses involving lights seen over Wrightsville Beach on June 22, 2010.
The new witness discovered two MUFON reports from the same location and date/time and decided to file a report - MUFON Case # 28655.
This witness reports being closer to the lights.
“In both cases, the yacht club members and the couple, they were both further away then I was,” the witness stated. “The yacht club is about a mile from the pier, and the pier is a few hundred yards away from where I was.”
While the original witnesses saw lights in a triangle formation, this witness at a closer location saw something different.
“I was out for a run on the beach and I saw a triangular object rise out of the ocean maybe 150-200 feet away from my spot on the beach. I was scared so I did not approach. It was a pretty dark night, but some stars were out. I could tell it was a solid object because when they orange/red lights in a triangular pattern rose from the water, the space in between the lights blocked out the stars behind it, indicating to me it was a solid object.”
The witness described the object’s movements.
“The object hovered about 50 feet above the water for maybe 10-15 seconds, and then shot off horizontally, then upwards from a dead-stand-still to incredible speeds with no sounds of engine thrust.”
A California witness had a second encounter with a triangle-shaped UFO over Antelope Valley after observing a low-flying and silent object move overhead on April 12, 2011.
“I did not see lights lining an underneath cavity this time around. We were parked while the triangle shaped object moved closer to us.”
Just before the object would have been just overhead, it changed direction and moved quickly away.
“Just as it reached the point of being right in front of us, it changed direction in a split second. No airplane or helicopter can change direction like that without having to swoop around first so we knew this was not an ordinary earthly object. Just after changing direction it shot off at what I would say was light speed and disappeared into thin air. Again there was no sound that I heard even though the object was very low and not too far away from where we were parked.”
The witness also recounts an incident four years ago in the same area where a triangle object was observed “just a few yards off of the 14 freeway, maybe 100 to 150 feet in the air.”
A Montgomery, TX, witness reports a silent, triangle UFO “the size of a Wal-Mart store” passed overhead at 2,000 feet on April 11, 2011.
The witness had just driven his mother home and was standing outside as the object moved east to west and moved over a Wal-Mart store.
“Very faint white lights ran the length of the leading edge with brighter tip lights,” the witness stated. “This was a huge object, appearing to be black in color and moving silently. I was appox.3,000 feet or less from it and maybe 2,000 feet above me. It moved out of my line of sight in 30 seconds or so.”
Contrails are normally something seen behind the modern jet, but witnesses in California and Missouri reported seeing an object with a colored light contrail behind it from separate reports on April 14, 2011.
In MUFON Case # 28680, the Carlsbad, CA, witness describes a large, red sphere with a “with two large arching spans of light/contrail in the shape of a fan trailing behind.”
In MUFON Case # 28683, the witness says their sighting was exactly the same as Case # 28680.
“He/she could not have explained it more accurately than i could!” the witness stated. “It was the exact same sighting! Appeared, then disappeared only to appear again for a few seconds more. Then disappeared completely.”
In MUFON Case # 28688, a California couple out for a walk after 9 p.m. on April 14, 2011, report a bright, white moving across the sky with a long tail of light behind it.
“It was first a fast moving ball of light then a ‘contrail’ appeared on the end of it,” the reporting witness stated. “It wasn’t a contrail, but a long trailing light like a rocket shooting up into space, but this was going north to south and there was no smoke. The contrail appeared only a few seconds. Then the light appread to angle down and turn toward us (we were facing west).”
On April 11, 2011, a witness in Missouri, in MUFON Case # 28681, described a slow moving, purple sphere, with a purple contrail.
“The witness was looking out the window and saw the object move slowly across the sky, stop, reverse direction and move away very very fast. It was oval shape, purple, and leaving a purple contrail when it traveled in both directions. It was viewed to the east, moving to the west and leaving to the east. The entire sighting lasted 15-20 seconds and he lost sight of the object when it moved behind trees.”
An Oklahoma couple report watching a cigar-shaped object in the sky with two “very, very bright lights” while driving west along Highway 11, six miles north of Tulsa at 11 a.m. on April 13, 2011.
The object first appeared to be oval or round and with two bright lights.
“I saw through my windhield at about 11-12 o’clock high into a clear blue sky something oval to almost round shaped with like two very, very bright lights inside the shape,” the reporting witness stated. “It seemed to be a shiny metallic outside the lights.”
Two miles later the couple turned north onto Highway 75, heading toward Bartlesville, when they noticed the object changing shape.
“The object had started losing the two bright lights and seemed to change to dull gray color and shaped like a cigar or missle shaped. It seemed to sort of fade away briefly.”
Kentucky witnesses watched a silent, hovering object flashing colored lights for 40 minutes before it moved away on April 13, 2011.
The witnesses noticed flashing colors – green, purple, orange, blue, red – coming from behind their home and walked to the backyard to investigate and discovered the object in the distance.
“Watched the object for 40 minutes as it moved slowly from right to left,” the reporting witness stated. “At times it seemed to have a line of the lights on either side of one main bright light in the center.”
A Marshall, MN, witness reports watching a nearly-transparent, boomerang-shaped object for about 20 seconds on April 12, 2011.
The witness was walking home from a local store when the object was noticed in the sky.
“It is colored gray because it was almost transparent,” the witness stated. “The lights were also dim, as if to add to the transparency.”
A California witness reports a silent, rectangular-shaped object 30 feet wide and 90 feet long moving at about 15 mph at 200 feet overhead, according to April 12, 2011, MUFON testimony.
The February 28, 2011, incident began when the witness got out of bed to use the bathroom, looked out a window before getting back into bed, and noticed in the sky.
“It was shaped like a box, square at the front, with rectangular sides and underside,” the witness stated. “The sky was very dark blue and the object was black against it.The perimeter of the underside was lined with lights, red and green (alternating), that sequentially turned on and off, giving a rotating effect similar to that of the lights bordering a theater marque.”
The witness described the object.
“This object was large and very low. I estimate the front to be 30 feet square and the length 90 feet. The surface of the object was absolutely smooth, featureless and non reflective. There were no windows. The lights circling the lower perimeter were numerous. I estimate 100.They were not circular, but shaped like footballs standing on point and as large.”
A Washington witness reports that several military helicopters flying west at 300 feet moving over I-5 had nets that carried either a disc-shaped or triangle-shaped object about 1 p.m. on April 11, 2011.
The witness states that two Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters were flying south along the I-5 corridor for about 30 minutes when the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters crossed I-5 at the Green Hill exit with the nets in toe.
“Three Black Hawks flew with a net slung between them, one in the lead, two trailing, and two gunships after them with guns trained on the loaded net,” the witness stated. “The air speed was approximately 140 mph, limiting the sighting to several seconds per group. Two of the cargos contained disc-shaped loads, 15-foot diameter. The third, not necessarily in that order contained an isosceles triangular-shaped object, similarly sized to the Black Hawk copters.”
A third recent report from Texas of a cigar-shaped UFO occurred after a motorist spotted a “silver object” on April 10, 2011.
“At first I thought it was a plane but it was not moving and had no markings, paint, or wings,” the witness stated. “I watched it for a minute until I lost it behind an apartment building. When I passed the building the object was gone.”
No images or video were provided with the MUFON report, which was filed April 11, 2011.
A Cypress, TX, witness reported a white or silver “thin object” hovering 1,000 feet over US 290 that quickly disappeared from view on April 5, 2011 in MUFON Case # 28593. This case was covered in the story: Second cigar-shaped UFO report over Texas skies.
In a case from April 6, 2011, a Texas witness reported watching “an illuminated object in the sky hovering over a location in the distance for approximately 23 minutes” that seemed circular and then cigar-shaped as the illumination changed. This case was covered in the story: Illuminated cigar UFO reported over Texas. The witness also provided a photograph in this case.
Texas is a current UFO ALERT 3 rating, with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. Texas had 39 UFO reports in March 2011 – the second highest reporting state – while California had 4

Witnesses from Arizona and Florida report odd lights near the moon while watching the sky in two separate cases, according to April 11, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The Arizona witness was watching the sky on April 10, 2011, and noticed four bright lights at the outer rim as reported in MUFON Case # 28619.
In an unrelated case, a Florida witness was attempting to photograph the moon on April 8, 2011, in MUFON Case # 28618, when “a very bright star appeared very close to the moon on the bottom left.”
A Hawaiian witness reports watching a light over Kailua Beach that changed colors and moved erratically in the sky on March 26, 2011, an event that was similar to an experience in the same spot 18 months earlier, according to April 11, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.”
“We witnessed this light that appeared to change color moving about near the horizon, at about 5-10 degrees above the horizon,” the witness stated. “These movements were erratic and random and at varying speeds in all directions. It moved near the horizon at first and then gained altitude at times to at least 50 degrees. It made sudden stops and starts and moved like no terrestrial aircraft physically could. The light would dim at times and fade out of view only to return in a short while and continue its movements. We were amazed and continued to observe it for over and hour until we finally gave up fishing.”
The witness also reports that a friend made three recordings with a cell phone during the time of the sighting, and one of those recordings caught what appears to be odd sounds that may or may not be related to the incident.
“In the next recording, which was seconds later, a tremendously strong signal was received that sounded like random static, and underlying this was sounded like talking in an unintelligible language. It was definitely a verbal communication of some kind and lasted until the time elapsed.”
The other two recordings were normal. The previous sighting at the same spot was in 2009.

A North Carolina witness in Wilson County reports watching a red light drop down to a point 300 feet above a tree line approximately one mile away on April 2, 2011.
The witness said the light moved “straight down to the ground, sat for about 3 or 4 seconds, and disappeared.”
Investigation by the witness at the scene yielded no clues. The witness described what was seen at ground level.
“The red light I saw after it was n the ground was a complete circle, misty red, and approximately 25 feet to 30 feet across,” the witness stated. “The conditions outside was clear with very little wind. The object made no sound, did not blink, did not flicker, and did not light up the ground around it.”
Two California witnesses in Glendale report seeing an “electric blue flash” followed by a dark colored, diamond-shaped craft in the sky that moved quickly away in just seconds at about 1:15 a.m. on April 11, 2011.
The two were driving home when they first noticed the flash of blue light in the sky. They then saw the unusual object.
“The craft was almost a diamond shape, dark in color almost camouflaging with the sky but I could see its outline with three distinct circular shapes in what seemed to be its front,” the reporting witness stated. “The craft was so close to the Earth, closer than a plane and quiet, we had no music playing in the car.”
The object then shot away with an “electric blue light” trailing behind.
As the new reports come into MUFON, many witnesses from older cases report their cases. Two new cases this week include:
