RMarsh Feature UFO Traffic Report: June 17, 2011

Article by ROGER MARSH

The National UFO ALERT Rating System has been updated June 1, 2011, with California and Texas retaining a UFO Alert 3 as the two highest reporting states during the month of May 2011, filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, Indiana, New York, Tennessee, and Florida were placed in a UFO Alert 4 with 13 or more cases reported in May. Missouri, Arizona, and Pennsylvania have been designated “Watch States” – each with 11 or more cases.

MUFON released May statistics June 1, where the total number of reported UFO sightings are listed by state. The UFO Examiner uses these statistics to rate states. The entire country was moved back to the lowest alert level – UFO Alert 5.

California was the leading UFO report state again this month – with 55 cases – up from 46 last month – and remains in the UFO Alert 3 status with Texas, 21 reports – down from 24 reports last month.

Those states with 13 or more reports, the next reporting tier level, are a UFO Alert 4 status: Illinois, 17; Michigan, 17; Colorado, 14; Indiana, 13; New York, 13; Tennessee, 13; and Florida, 13.

While all other states move to a UFO Alert 5 status, we are also moving the following states into our Watch Group: Missouri, 12; Arizona, 11; and Pennsylvania, 11 reports.

Two Texas witnesses pulled over along westbound US 180 three miles from Funston in Jones County and watched a silent object hovering under 100 feet over a nearby field about 10:15 p.m. on June 6, 2011, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness and the witnesses’ mother first thought the low flying object was a plane.

“As it crossed over the road in front of us, we joked around about the possibility of it being a ‘UFO,’ the reporting witness stated. “Finally, the object stopped; and seemed to hover in midair.”

As the witnesses moved closer to the object, they were able to describe its lighting.

“As we got closer, we could see the object had white/green LED like lights on the bottom, and there was also a flashing red light in the center. The lights were arranged in a triangular formation. As we got closer, we believed the object to be a radio tower. But as we pulled up to the point where we were about even with the object, we could tell it had more ‘depth,’ than just a radio tower. This thing was big.”

At this point they determined that the object was hovering over a nearby field and was hovering between 70 and 100 feet off of the ground.

“I stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the highway and my mother rolled the window down. Instantly the object began to move slowly in an east-northeast direction.”

But as they observed the object, it began to move away.

A Michigan witness watched “five round objects” move over a nearby tree line while three of the objects formed a triangle pattern during three evening encounters.

The witness first noticed a “single sphere-like object” at the tree line that “jutted down in a quick motion and then continued on in a straight path,” and then watched four addtiional objects appear in the sky.

“At around 8 p.m., a single sphere-like object had come over the tree line and jutted down in a quick motion and then continued on in a straight path,” the witness stated. “Soon after, four more objects appeared with the first three in a triangular pattern with two following.”

An hour later, all five objects appeared again in the same area. The witness was able to take three images at this point. See Image # 1Image # 2, and Image # 3.

At 11:20 p.m. on the same evening, all five objects appeared again in the same area where they “moved across the sky for about two to three minutes and vanished.”

No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the MUFON report, which was filed on June 12, 2011. The event occurred on June 11.

Michigan is a current UFO ALERT 4 rating, with a higher than average number of UFO sightings nationally. Michigan had 17 reports in May 2011.

Witnesses in New York, Indiana, and West Virginia, all report watching a cylinder or “cigar-shaped” object pass overhead – with photography in two cases.

A Central, NY, witness watched an object on June 12, 2011, in MUFON Case # 29514.

“Looked out garage window, south, saw bight white cylinder shape, traveling from west to east,” the witness stated. “At first I thought it was airline traffic, went out for a better look, but no wings, strobes, or sound. It seemed to shift slightly to the south and gradually gain altitude. I lost it in the pre-dusk sky not on the horizon.”

Also on June 12, a witness reports a silver-colored, cigar-shaped object at high altitude in MUFON Case # 29513.

“There was no sound, and even when it was flying right over me, I did not see any wings,” the witness stated.

The witness presents two photographs with the report - Image # 1 and Image # 2.

On June 10, 2011, in West Virginia, a witness was outside testing a new camera in MUFON Case # 29487.

“I had just stepped outside to sit on the porch when the moon caught my attention, and just above it was what I thought to be an airplane,” the witness stated. “I decided to test out the zoom on my recently bought camera and I tried taking pictures of the ‘airplane.’ I took two pictures. The first picture I caught the whole object. The second picture I only captured half plus a random tree branch from the tree in her front yard. I thought nothing more of the object being anything other than an airplane until right when I took the second photo. After I pushed the button to take the second photo I looked up and it disappeared. I felt puzzled and it struck me as odd that I didn’t see how it disappeared.”

The witness included three photo uploads: Image # 1Image # 2, and Image # 3.

After reviewing the images on a computer, the witness speculates it may have actually been five objects.

Two witnesses pulled over to the side of the road in Salt Lake City’s East Milcreek suburb to watch and photograph slow-moving objects that formed a triangle in the sky.

The witnesses first thought the lights were part of a fireworks display, but then realized that the lights “didn’t disappear and were moving for at least five minutes.”

“We pulled over on 3300 South near 2000 East in the East Milcreek suburb of Salt Lake City,” the reporting witness stated. “We watched as the objects, which were very bright, moved slowly from west to east, slowly formed triangles and then one by one disappeared.”

The witnesses were able to take two images - Image # 1 and Image # 2. The event occurred on June 11, 2011.

Two Colorado witnesses watched a “metallic triangle-shaped” UFO shoot “straight up into the air” after following it at high speeds along Highway 96 near Pueblo.

The object was reported as being silent and having red and purple flashing lights.

“The craft was about 900 to 1000 feet in the air at a speed of 150 plus mile per hour,” the reporting witness stated. “The red and purple lights were flashing on and off at a fast rate which my friend and I thought was very odd. This craft didn’t act nor did it look like an airplane or helicopter.”

While chasing the craft, the driver reports traveling at speeds of up to 120 mph.

“I had to drive around 110 mph to stay with this craft. My friend asked me to catch up to this object so that he could take a clear photo of it, so I sped up to 120 mph and yet I still couldn’t catch up with it. ”

After about 15 minutes, the object “shot straight up into the air.”

A Texas witness reports watching a triangle-shaped object at 500 feet that was “200 feet long on a side” that emitted “a noise like a generator for a large building” as it moved overhead.

The witness first noticed a single orange light approaching from the southeast.

“After a few seconds I could see that it was on the front of a triangle aircraft,” the witness stated. “The aircraft flew over the houses to my east and continued straight to the northeast at maybe 50 miles an hour. It seemed to be maybe 500 feet up and about 200 feet long on a side. It seemed to be gray metal, like an unpainted aircraft.”

At first, the object emitted no sound.

“There was absolutely no audible noise until it was at about 11 o’clock overhead when I heard a noise like a generator for a large building that was audible until about the 1 o’clock position. It was really, really close but if I had been one or two houses down, I think I would not have heard even the brief noise that I did hear.”

The witness believes the object may have been military.

Witnesses in Fairfax, VA, are not certain what the object in the sky was that they watched two nights in a row and videotaped.

“It was visible from starting at approximately 6:30 p.m. and abruptly faded from sight at 8:43 exactly,” the reporting witness stated. “It was seen for two evenings in a row. I constantly sky-gaze in this direction, watching flight and weather patterns, and I did not notice anything like this in the days or evenings beforehand.”

The witness described the object.

“The object also had a slightly erratic flight path, unlike that of a planet or star. It is also oval shaped and bears a shadow on its bottom. If it WAS Saturn, or any planet, it’s shadow would not be located there, considering the sun was hanging low in the sky, although not yet at horizon level.”

Fairfax is in Fairfax County, VA, population 24.702. The object was reported to MUFON on June 10, 2011. The incident occurred on May 29, 2011.

Three California family members report watching a silent, triangle-shaped object move “just above the roof tops of the houses in the sub division” about 10 p.m. on June 13, 2011.

The family first noticed “an extremely bright white light coming toward us very low” that appeared to be just above local roof tops.

Then using a pair of high powered binoculars – they said they were “shocked and awed” over what they were seeing.

They described the object as a “large almost kite-diamond shaped craft that had very bright white lights in the middle of the front of the vehicle, however; the lights took up most of the front of it (not a headlight type).”

The object was very low in the sky.

“Its distance above us was about four single story houses stacked one on top of each other,” the reporting witness stated.

They described the object as it moved overhead.

“It appeared to be flat on the bottom and all three sides were smooth rounded up. When it was directly over top of me, the light on the front shifted to a round white light underneath and I made the comment ‘I hope it doesn’t beam me up!’ (jokingly). We then noticed that the front where the lights had been seemed to have a section ‘notched inward’. What was so amazing is no sound! It was gliding across the sky. As it passed over us I handed the binoculars to my son-in-law and he said the light changed again from underneath to the front.”

No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the MUFON report, which was filed on June 14, 2011. No images or videos were included with the report. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

An Arizona couple report a “star-like fireball” that was three-feet across followed their car at about the height of their windows for two minutes during a nightime drive about halfway between Las Vegas, NV, and Kingman, AZ.

The couple left the T.J. Shepherd show in Las Vegas about 9:30 p.m. and decided to drive home to Golden Valley – about 8 miles from Kingman, AZ.

About halfway through the trip, the woman’s husband, a passenger, “pointed out a star-like fireball following the car at window height. It disappeared in about two minutes – vanishing.”

Realizing they were alone on the highway, the woman, who was driving, decided to attempt to catch up to cars that were ahead of her.

“I decided to try to catch up to the cars that were ahead of it that were going 65 mph,” the woman stated. “I was the last car in line. They took off so fast that I was going 80 mph and I could not catch up with them.”

Now the couple found themselves alone along a dark stretch of desert highway as the “fireball” moved in front of their vehicle.

“It was going the same speed as us. It was a little bit bigger than three feet across. It followed us for about two minutes, then vanished. This all happened halfway between Las Vegas and Kingman.”

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 14, 2011. The event occurred on June 10, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

Four Virginia witnesses report watching a total of 10 cigar-shaped objects “gliding” over Hillsville, VA, beginning at 8:15 p.m. on June 13, 2011.

Two local residents were originally outside watching when the first craft moved across a cloudless sky from the north to the south.

“The craft appeared to be silver or light in color, as it reflected the sun and made no noise and left no chemtrail,” the reporting witness stated. “Though strange, the event seemed insignificant until another identical craft came into view less than one minute later, following the same altitude and path.”

The two were then joined by two more people, and the four watched as three more identical crafts crossed the sky about one minute apart from each other.

“The only difference in the three subsequent crafts was that they were still appearing to adhere to the same directional path but flew lower or higher than the original two.”

Then five minutes later, another craft appeared moving from the opposite direction – flying southeast to northwest.

“Speed and altitude were similar but the craft seemed orange in color (perhaps a reflection of the setting sun which was an orange/pink hue).”

About 30 seconds later, another craft appeared coming from the north, but was traveling southwest instead of directly south.

They also observed a commercial aircraft moving south to north, with a UFO directly behind it.

No images or video were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 13, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.  Hillsville is a town in Carroll County and is the county seat, population 2,607.

An Ohio woman caught a low-flying, rectangular object on camera while shooting photos during a thunderstorm as she stood along the southbound side of the Troy-Sidney Road north of Dayton between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on June 10, 2011.

The woman was hoping to capture lightning on her cell phone camera.

“The storm was coming in from the southwest over Troy,” the witness stated. “I pulled off the country road, put my flashers on and stood outside my car with my arms resting on the door to stabilize my hands. How lucky do you have to be to catch lighting–especially without a tripod? So, I took lots of pictures, probably about 20 with the hope of capturing some lightning bolts. When I finished taking pictures I had to drive into the storm and it was very scary. It was pouring rain so hard that I couldn’t see and then there was hail!”

Upon downloading the images onto a computer at home, the woman noticed the unusual-looking object.

“It’s a rectangular, flat looking UFO. I did not see it when I took the picture, and I did not hear anything other than thunder in the distance. We are about 10 or 15 miles north of Dayton airport but this was not a plane coming in for a landing. I would have heard and seen that.”

Three images were included with the MUFON report. The first image is the original, and the other two were altered. Image # 1, Image # 2, and Image # 3.

A Congress, AZ, witness reports watching a “sequence of lights” that formed sequential patterns in the sky beggining about 9:30 p.m. on June 14, 2011.

The witness reports that the lights were appearing on a clear night with a nearly full moon north of Wickenburg and west of Highway 93 – a route that connects Wickenburg and Flagstaff and continues to Las Vegas – a “sparsely population” area although a “busy highway.”

A single bright light first caught the witnesess’ attention.

“I waited for the light to move or blink, as would an aircraft light, however it simply disappeared after perhaps 20 seconds,” the witness stated. “A moment later another light appeared, slightly lower and a few degrees north of the 1st light, and it became a sequence or row of five lights in a straight horizontal row. The initial light went out and immediately the second light turned on, remaining for about 1/2 second, went out and the 3rd light turned on, and so forth for 5 lights total. The separations between lights was uniform and it was clearly a row of lights, not a single light that was moving and blinking.”

The light pattern repeated four more times.

“This pattern of sequential lights was repeated four more times, at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes, during the next hour, but with significant variations. Specifically, the next three times the sequence was of six lights in the row, not just five. The 5th and last time the row was composed of 10 to 12 lights, which appeared much closer together and the on-off sequence was twice as fast as in the previous four appearances. Each appearance was at a slightly different location in the sky, making it appear that the lights were attached to a rigid platform, such as a large UFO, which moved slowly over a distance of several miles.”

There were also individual lights in the sky.

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 15, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Congress is in Yavapai County, AZ, population 1,717.

Also on June 14, 2011, another Arizona case was reported to MUFON as Case # 29562. “Bright large clusters of amber light that faded in and out in the sky above and very clear of the mountains easily visualized to the north on this nearly full moon night.”

From the unedited MUFON report: “Noted these lights in place where no lights should be as we drive this road (SR 72) quite often during the night after visiting friends in PHX> We began seeing them about 7 miles from Vicksburg road on SR 72. 5 times we saw the lights become bright, each time a bit further west and every time, after about 1-3 mins, they faded…Not abruptly, they dimmed. Hard to tell shape anything other than the lights were clustered and we noted two clusters. They moved west towards the Colorado river and after the fifth time we never saw them again. Have no idea what we saw.”

Arizona is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating,
with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Arizona had 11 reports in May 2011.

An Arkansas witness reports watching and photographing multiple triangle-shaped crafts just after 10:30 p.m. on June 15, 2011, over Little Rock that he speculates may be the secret “Boeing TR-3B from their Phantom Works project.”

The witness reports receiving information from a “reliable source” that pilots flying over Little Rock were reporting multiple unknown objects. The witness then went outside to have a look for himself and saw triangle-shaped objects.

“There was an aircraft approaching from the west-south-west moving to the east-north-east,” the witness stated. “There were three amber lights, one on each point of the triangular aircraft with a solid red light on the belly of the craft. This craft was out of my line of sight after three minutes.”

Then several minutes later, the witness reports watching two additional crafts in the eastern sky that were moving south.

“While I was watching, one of them ‘disappeared’, which I am guessing it went lights out. It appeared shortly thereafter either closer to me or much higher in altitude. It hovered and reversed heading to the north, just as being reported by pilots. Then they were out of my line of sight…as clouds moved in.”

The witness believes that the objects were American-made.

“I was excited to see the aircraft which I believe are the Boeing TR-3B, from their Phantom Works project.”

Three images were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 16, 2011. See Image # 1Image # 2, and Image # 3. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

An Illinois witness reports watching and videotaping several low and high altitude spheres using a night vision scope, according to a June 16, 2011, testimony update in the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness reports “ at least six different craft at very high altitude.”

The witness describes the scene.

“The craft were mostly traveling from the south to the north,” the witness stated. “One craft was traveling east to west in a slightly erratic flight path. I was able to film this craft via night vision and iPhone. The video is very good and clearly shows the craft stopping mid flight the disappearing from site.”

The last craft was described as a “glowing, orange sphere.”

Three pieces of video were submitted with the follow-up report on June 16, 2011. The third video is of conventional aircraft. Video # 1Video # 2, and Video # 3. The original incident was reported on June 5, 2011; while the objects were originally sited on June 3, 2011. No town name was mentioned in the MUFON report. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

Illinois is a current UFO ALERT 4 rating,
with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. Illinois had 17 reports in May 2011.

Keep watching the skies. And if you see a UFO, please report it to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) at mufon.com. I’ll be back next week with more reports from across the country.
