UFO Traffic Report: May 6, 2011
Article by: Roger Marsh
A heavy stream of UFO traffic this past week from all across the U.S. – including multiple reports of UFOs on or near the ground.
The National UFO ALERT Rating System has been updated May 1, 2011, with California and Texas retaining a UFO Alert 3 as the two highest reporting states during the month of April 2011, filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania were placed in a UFO Alert 4 with 13 or more cases reported in April. Florida and Indiana have been designated “Watch States” – each with 11 or more cases.
MUFON released April statistics May 1, where the total number of reported UFO sightings are listed by state. The UFO Examiner uses these statistics to rate states. The entire country was moved back to the lowest alert level – UFO Alert 5.
California was the leading UFO report state again this month – with 46 cases – up from 45 last month – and remains in the UFO Alert 3 status with Texas, 24 reports.
Those states with 13 or more reports, the next reporting tier level, are a UFO Alert 4 status: Michigan, 19; Arizona, 13; and Pennsylvania, 13.
While all other states move to a UFO Alert 5 status, we are also moving the following states into our Watch Group: Florida, 12 reports; and Indiana, 11 reports.

Just in time for Easter Sunday, someone describes two UFOs in the shape of crosses.
A Louisiana parent and son report watching a “smoky gray hollowed outline of a cross” in the sky with a “large orange cross” to the left of it as they traveled along Highway 19 entering the city limits of Slaughter.
The second, orange cross was “even bigger” than the outline of a cross and “the size of the moon,” the reporting witness stated. “It glowed like the sun when it sets. It was scary, yet amazing.”
The objects moved slowly, then began to pick up speed – though never losing their cross shapes. The parent attempted to keep up with the objects, but lost them to tree tops as they moved east of their location.
The event occurred on April 9, 2011. Slaughter is a town in East Feliciana Parish, LA, population 1,011.

Witnesses in three states reported alien abduction activity and the fear of future repeat visits, according to holiday weekend testimony.
An April 23, 2011, report from North Dakota describes repeated visits of “reptilian-like creatures” in MUFON Case # 28791. Two male household members have watched the creatures on weekly visits for about a year.
“The creatures are short, whiter than white, long tail, looked like it had a cat-faced mouth,” the witness stated. “The creature had real pointed legs, walking on the two back legs. When you try to hit or touch the creatures, you are stunned and cannot move, until the creature has moved past. No noise!”
An April 24, 2011, report from Iowa describes a lifetime of abduction activity in MUFON Case # 28801. The witness is not sure what all of this is leading to.
“I started to have physical evidence such as burns, needle holes, bloody noses, bruises etc.,” the witness stated. “I would become paralyzed and couldn’t scream or move or do nothing. I woke one time to them around my bed, but for some reason I laid back down and went to sleep. I finally told my wife at the time about what was going on…..and she knew. She had been having nightmares of them coming in and taking me.”
The witness has a feeling that the abduction is going to happen prior to the event.
A former Catholic missionary from California responded to the Iowa report on April 24, 2011, with some advice in MUFON Case # 28805.
“An elderly lady once reported her becoming involved in the church but having the same issue, and when she said the words, ‘Oh, Jesus help me,’ they left her alone.”
An April 23, 2011, report from Pennsylvania describes an event from April 21, 2000, when the witness was just 4 years old in MUFON Case # 28793.
“I was about 4 years old, asleep in my parent’s bed,” the witness stated. “I woke up for no reason, and time seemed to pause. There was a bright light, and a tall, brown life form came into the room. It was speaking a different language but, for some reason, I could understand it. I wasn’t sure what it was at first, since i was only a kid.”

An Oregon couple reports watching a silent, “odd shaped blob” crossing the sky one-quarter mile away at about 1,500 feet altitude on April 24, 2011, “with an aura or energy field that seemed to distort the air” around it.
The object moved eastbound.
“At first it looked like a large vulture that was soaring, but then as it got closer we could make out the shape better,” the reporting witness stated. “No noise, but my wife and I both noticed some sort of aura or energy field that seemed to distort the air right around this thing.”
The witness stated that he “got one decent picture, but when I tried to zoom in on it my camera started acting erratically and then I lost track of the object.” See Photo # 1, and Photo # 2 (a cropped and enlarged version).

A second Maryland witness came forward April 25, 2011, to report watching and videotaping what could be the same object with green lights that was dropping “glowing balls of light” to the ground from an April 21 report.
We originally reported this object in: ‘Strange flying object’ drops glowing balls of light to ground.
The new witness provided a link to a YouTube video in MUFON Case # 28814. This witness reports observing this same object numerous times over the past few months. The video was taken on February 16, 2011.

Three Illinois children report being surrounded by “a perfect rectangle of green flashing lights” with no apparent source while experiencing a feeling of being targeted and a “strange warmth”.
While walking to one of their homes, the three pre-teens report stopping when they realized they were surrounded by green flashing lights in a triangle formation. The lights also “seemed to pulse.”
“They were moving around us, and I remember feeling like they were targeting us, almost as if they were tracking our location and movements so we could be captured without injury,” the reporting witness stated. “There were at least three of us standing on that corner, and at the same time (after about two minutes beneath the lights), we all screamed and started running like we had never run the last block to the safe refuge of our friend’s house.”

A Kennewick, WA, witness reports watching and following a large and silent triangle UFO on April 26, 2011, that landed near “the blue bridge”.
The witness was driving and “spotted a huge, glowing orb of light hovering over the blue bridge in Kennewick, WA.”
“I watched it hover for 10 minutes and then fly across the river and land in someone’s yard,” the witness stated.
The witness then drove across the bridge “to find where it landed.”
“By the time I got over there it had gone back up and started sitting, hovering above the bridge again. I stayed where I was, though, watching it. Finally it started moving right towards my car. I got to see that it was a triangle shape and very large in size. It was quiet and made no type of noise.”
Kennewick is a city in Benton County, WA, population 73,917. No images or videos were released with the report, which was filed with MUFON on April 27, 2011.

Two Florida witnesses report a “Frisbee-like” UFO the size of a football field came into view and hovered for 20 to 30 seconds before moving away at 2:27 p.m. on April 27, 2011.
The reporting witness described the object.
“It had some black window looking things. It appeared to be rotating like a fan. It went left real fast. Then weirdly it dead stopped for 20-30 seconds. It was silver. It was at least size of football field.”

A Texas couple report watching a 200-foot-long, rectangle-shaped UFO that appeared to be in a “liquid state” as it moved across the sky at about 1,500 feet.
The couple noticed the object in the distance as it “soared silently from southeast to northwest.”
They agree that estimating its size and distance is tough.
“It is difficult to estimate the size or how high it was,” the reporting witness stated. “The view was unobstructed. The object could be seen clearly and it was not rotating, making noise or illuminated. My wife believes it was roughly 200 feet by 200 feet and was flying at roughly 1500 feet. I believe it was much larger and was flying closer to one mile.”
But they noticed something else that was rather odd about the object.
“The object appeared to be in a liquid state, such as the chemical mercury, but it retained its parallelogram shape throughout the sighting. It appeared to only be reflecting the lights from the ground, and had no lights on the craft itself. The object had a ‘digital’ camouflage appearance of a circuit board or other layered pattern.”

A Savannah, GA, witness reports a large, cone-shaped object with a bright, white light and orange flames from the rear moved southwest above Route 204 near Atlantic Armstrong University at a high rate of speed on April 29, 2011.
The white light was at the nose of the object, the witness reports. The orange flames were “like a Bunsen burner” at the back, which shut off at one point, and then restarted after one or two seconds.

An Indiana witness driving along Bath Road in Franklin reports watching five silver-blue, teardrop-shaped flashes moving “just above the trees in a straightline trajectory moving from west to east, towards Oxford, OH, on April 29, 2011.
“They moved so fast it was almost incomprehensible,” the witness stated.
The witness has ruled out many manmade possibilities as she is familiar with the area.
No images or videos were provided with the MUFON report, which was filed on April 30, 2011. Franklin is a city in Johnson County, population 23,712.

A California witness reports a group of “brilliantly bright lights appeared out of nowhere” and hovered or moved slowly without emitting sound near Morgan Hill on April 29, 2011.
The witness first noticed the first light.
“It was about the size of one-half of a pencil eraser and appeared to be hovering over the East Side (Alum Rock area),” the witness stated. “For about 5 minutes, it just hovered, then it slowly started drifting south.”
Then two more objects moved into the same area.
“Then, all of a sudden, two more showed up and their lights appeared out of nowhere! (Kinda like if you were standing in a dark room, and someone turned on a flashlight facing you.) These two didn’t hover though. They automatically started moving towards the South following the first one.”
Then a fourth object appeared.
“When they were almost completely out of sight, a fourth one appeared from the same spot the other three came from. Only, this one started moving slowly towards the North as if it was going up towards Fremont.”
No images or video were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on April 30, 2011. Morgan Hill is a city in Santa Clara County, CA, population 37,882.

Four Illinois witnesses report watching “a huge fireball” rise up from nearby farm land, climb into the sky, and head northwest into a dark and cloudy sky on April 29, 2011.
The witnesses stepped outside facing the western sky where there is “miles and miles of fields and various farm lands.”
“I right away seen a fireball – bright orangish red – rising from the ground,” the reporting witness stated. “It looked to be about 2-3 miles away. It hovered for a minute or two not getting up to high and it started moving to the northwest.”
The witness said that the object was very large.
“This thing dwarfed any other lights in comparison, even from the distance between us and the object. It was huge!”
No images or video were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on April 30, 2011. No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the report.

A Jacksonville, FL, witness reports watching a “green fireball fall down to Earth” at 10:05 p.m. on April 29, 2011.
“I was jogging toward the north when, in the corner of my eye, I saw a green flash in the sky,” the witness stated. “I stopped to watch as my first instinct was that it might be a passenger jet with a serious problem. For about 5 seconds I watched a green fireball fall down to the Earth. This was toward the west. The event only lasted about 5 seconds before it disappeared in a bright flash.”
No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on April 29, 2011. Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida, in Duval County, population 821,784.

A San Francisco, CA, couple report watching a boomerang-shaped object from the Lower Haight neighborhood at 9:30 p.m. on April 29, 2011.
“We both looked up and saw a boomerang object that was almost as black as the sky, moving north fairly quickly,” the reporting witness stated. “It looked like a B-2 stealth bomber.”
The object was silent.
“It didn’t make a sound; it was like watching a glider. It was gone fairly quickly. It was a fantastic sight. This sighting took place at the intersection of Scott and Page in San Francisco.”

Witnesses in Minnesota and Kansas report seeing multiple lights flying in formation on the same night that they could not identify.
In Minnesota between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on April 30, a witness and daughter were flying a kite when they noticed “six round objects flying in ‘V’ formation heading south to north” in MUFON Case # 28906.
“At first I thought they were geese, and I kept telling myself they were,” the witness stated. “But as they flew above us they were spherical. They sort of looked like stars. and judging by distance they were probably the size of a fighter jet.”
Also on April 30, 2011, witnesses in Abilene, KS, report watching 8 to 12 red, non-blinking lights in a triangular formation at about 9:30 p.m. in MUFON Case # 28893.
“They were flying in formation maintaining a constant altitude and were equidistant from each other,” the reporting witness stated. “They were in a triangular relationship to each other as well.”

A second report of a moving “flashing light” crossing the sky comes from Florida after a similar incident on the same date from Indiana.
Witnesses in Florida report observing a flashing light that appeared to be moving between 11 p.m. and midnight on April 29, 2011.
“It’s so hard to explain,” the reporting witness stated. “I’m facing east. The flash was in my vision about 65-70 degrees in my line of sight and could not have been higher than 10,000 feet and vanishes. A split second later, as my friend turns, it flashes again, this time about 10 degrees lower in my sight and vanishes. And again still heading south. With each flash covering vast sections of sky, it flashes again this time about 10 degrees above my initial 65-70 degrees. This is all happening in flashes of a bright, white light a second or less apart. My friend claims he caught an orange glow to it, but I can’t confirm.”
Previously we reported that flashes of light moved just above the tree line in Franklin, IN, on the same date – April 29, 2011, in Witness reports ‘teardrop flashes’ move fast over Franklin City, IN.

An “extremely bright” object the size of a dime at arm’s length was reported to “climb rapidly” in the night sky over Oregon.
The reporting witness states that the object would have to be “huge” as it appeared to be originally seen “between normal commercial air traffic and satellite altitude.”
The three witnesses were outside at 9:45 p.m. on April 30, 2011, when the object was seen.
“It crossed the sky fairly quickly and as it quickly crossed the sky it looked as if it had started to climb rapidly until the light, which was in clear view, eventually vanished in the sky. There was nothing to get in the way of our view.”

A Lafayette, IN, witness reports a star-like object moving between one cloud formation and another, as observed two blocks north of Jefferson High School and looking east.
The witness was driving south on 18th Street on March 31, 2011, when the object was observed.
“No tail was observed,” the witness stated. “The object’s size at arm’s length was between 1/16 and 1/8th of an inch in diameter. It traveled in a northeastern direction.”
Lafayette is the county seat of Tippecanoe County, 63 miles northwest of Indianapolis, population 67,140. No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on May 2, 2011.

A Michigan witness became ‘terrified’ during two evening encounters with “an extremely bright light” that moved and hovered before finally dimming out and disappearing on May 2, 2011.
The witness first observed the bright light while outside talking on a cell phone and realized “it was airborne and was moving toward my position.”
“The light flew quickly through the trees for a few seconds before nearly instantly flying above my truck, at which point I got out of my truck and ran inside terrified,” the witness stated.
The witness then noticed the object had moved behind his house, was traveling in a different direction, and was “moving 90 degrees.”
The witness went inside and returned with a family member and the two of them watched the object together – but at a distance now.

An Oregon witness reports being followed by a low-flying, triangle-shaped UFO during a late night drive along a dark and deserted stretch of Route 126 enroute to Coos Bay.
The man left his daughter’s home at 4:35 a.m. He had gone through the towns of Veneta and Noti – still driving in the dark – and had reached the town of Walton at 5:30 a.m.
“I drove for about a couple of minutes when for some reason looked left and saw a large, black triangle with three white lights on each end,” the witness stated.
The object had three white lights and a red light and was traveling just a few feet off of the ground.
“I’ve seen triangles before, but this one in addition to the three white lights, there was an extra red light several feet ahead of the lead white light on the triangle. I didn’t stop as it was still dark and I didn’t know of any place to pull over. This triangle followed along beside me at the same speed, making no noise at all. It was traveling above pastured areas several feet from the road and homes.”

An Indiana couple driving along old Route 231 near McCutcheon High School in Lafayette, watched a “very bright green-ish, glowing ball falling towards the Earth.
“It scared both of us very bad, but was also exciting,” the reporting witness stated. “Instead on stopping and turning at our road to our neighborhood, we decided to keep going down the road to see if we could see it again because it had went behind the treeline.”
The couple did not see the object again.
Lafayette is the county seat of Tippecanoe County, population 67,140. No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on May 1, 2011. The event occurred on April 30, 2011. A Pennsylvania witness and several family members in two vehicles were traveling away from Uniontown Hospital and observed “a huge, bright object hovering above the mountains” that emitted a blue light on the trees below and appeared to be lifting up an object from the ground to the UFO.
The witnesses’ father had just passed away and family members were leaving the hospital at the time of the encounter.
“We all slowed down to watch a huge, bright object hovering above the mountains,” the reporting witness stated. “We saw a beam of blue light shine down through the trees, and an object of some kind was lifted up by the beam to the UFO. We were all amazed by what we were seeing. Then the huge UFO speeded away, and was gone in a flash.”
The witness described the size of the object.
“It had to be 200 yards long, and about two stories high. I’ve never seen anything like that before that big.”
Uniontown was the location, in 1973, of a UFO case that has received widespread recognition. Check out this 8-part video series where investigator George Lutz talked about his involvement in the case – which involved both a UFO and Bigfoot creatures: Bigfoot-UFO researcher George Lutz gets candid – an 8-part video interview. Mr. Lutz recently passed away and we respectfully thank his family for their encouragement to maintain this series.
One other sighting was reported to MUFON from Pennsylvania on the same date – February 13, 2009 – although no town name was listed. MUFON Case # 15521 recounts 10 bright lights seen in two formations.
From the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) from the same date – February 13, 2009 - there is a report from Doylestown – “3 lights (triangular) entered the sky like a shooting star, faded away and repeated this process til out of sight.” Doylestown is almost directly east of Uniontown, about a 5 and-a-half hour drive. The time of day for these sightings on the same date is not available in the public portion of the accounts for comparison.
Among the other NUFORC reports from February 13, 2009, there is a Fairview, NC, report that describes a white light that “rose vertically from ground” – an “oval craft hovered over trees then flew over house and ascended.”

A Wisconsin couple report that bright lights coming through bedroom windows caused them to investigate and discover a bright object hovering 200 feet from the house at the tree top level that was shining a rotating search light to the ground.
“As we sat there watching it, it emitted a search light rotating around on the ground and the area as though it were looking for something,” the reporting witness stated. “As the light came around it shown right into our bedroom window. It made quite a number of rotations. We looked at each other in disbelief. At this point we decided to run outside to get a better look.”
Outside they discovered a silent craft.
“The craft made no sound of any kind. I felt no moving air from it. If it had been a helicopter we would have been deafened by the noise and barraged with dust and air from the propellers at that close range.”
The craft was disc-shaped and they could see figures through windows.

Witnesses who star gaze along California Highway 88 near Bear River report multiple UFO sightings over the past two years after tracking lights “very low on the ridge” that hover and move along the mountain side.
“What is most common is a light coming up from the mountain very low on the ridge,” the reporting witness stated. “It varies in color from a dim orange to super bright white almost blue sometimes. It is hard to describe the shape as the object is about 2 miles away.”
The witness believes that these objects do not act like conventional aircraft.
“Its movements are unlike any conventional air craft. It seems to hover low on the mountain side and can change direction effortlessly.”
During one encounter, the object that move erratically and seemed to jump from one spot to another.

Two Maryland witnesses driving along rural Dairy Road near the small town of Rising Sun stopped their vehicle as a slow-moving UFO – 50 feet across and 20 feet high – moved silently just three feet above the ground.
The UFO emerged from a valley area to the left of the roadway across a field.
“I turned my head to the left and seen the front of the UFO moving about three feet off the ground and going about 1 mph (just moving really slow),” the reporting witness stated.
The witness stopped the vehicle as the UFO completely emerged in front of them.
“As we were setting there watching it move, all of a sudden it stopped and was about three feet off the ground. I guess the size of it about 50 feet across and about 20 feet high. It was really big. It made no sound and the color was a dirty silver.”
As the object stopped, the witness reports getting a feeling that the object did not want to be seen.

A second report of orange lights moving over North Carolina was reported from Bald Head Island.
Six “orange balls” moved slowly across the sky.
“There had been a power outage where I was staying and I went out on the deck to observe the stars and saw the orange objects in the sky moving slowly with no sound,” the witness reported. “I couldn’t tell how high they were. The first two were in single file. The second two were side by side and the other two were in single file.”

Two St. Clair Shores, MI, witnesses report watching a light descend to Lake St. Clair where it was seen as a saucer shape “with large dome on top” with orange and green lights and hovering 10 to 15 seconds before submerging in the water and moving away.
The two friends and a parent had just attended a tree lighting ceremony at nearby Jefferson Library when they stopped at a party store. The parent went into the store, while the two friends remained in the car and witnessed the UFO.
They first watched the light in the distant sky, but the object was in a descend mode and dropped to just above the lake.
“As it neared the horizon and water level out there on the lake it slowed drastically and orange and green sequencing illuminations were present,” the reporting witness stated.
The witness described the shape of the object.
“The shape appeared to be saucer on the bottom with larger dome on the top. It entered the water very slowly as we had 10-15 seconds of viewing the lights and the craft to get totally freaked out as it disappeared underwater still somewhat illuminating the water from below far offshore.”
No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on May 5, 2011. The incident occurred in December 1996. St. Clair Shores is a city bordering Lake St. Clair in Macomb County, MI, population 59,715.

A Colorado witness reports that what looked like a falling star moved to an area of the sky and disappeared into a “gray, ghost-like mass” while a triangle-shaped UFO quickly appeared 200 feet overhead on May 5, 2011.
The witness first watched the area where the falling star disappeared because “no fading or shrinking” was observed.
“What I then saw on same spot – it disappeared. I made out a gray ghost-like mass that it seemed to go behind it when it dissapeared,” the witness stated.
The witness watched the area for another two minutes, then began walking, but soon noticed a low flying craft about one-quarter west of the location. The craft had “4 to 6 lights” along its underbelly.
“The craft was only seemed 200 feet above me. It was triangle and made no noise. It was passing me heading northeast and a male jogger was then passing me. I told him – look up. He did – he said ‘wow’ and kept jogging. The object elevated and went straight to same northern spot and disappeared as well!”

Five Texas witnesses watched two, solid red lights in a clear, daylight sky that hovered, pulsed, and then completely disappeared on May 5, 2011.
They first watched one red light moving east to west.
“For something in the sky in broad daylight it was very bright,” the reporting witness stated. “It was more visible than the planes that are normally in the sky. We debated whether or not it was a plane or a balloon of some kind and then it stopped dead in the sky and began to pulse, then move slowly in the opposite direction.”
As the first light began to fade in and out, a second red light appeared.
“It started fading in and out, then another light appeared literally out of nowhere and they began pulsing back and forth, completely disappearing and then getting really bright again. The other light was identical but not as constant as the original light that we were still following. A neighbor brought out a pair of binoculars and I tracked it for a few minutes as it pulsed before it completely disappeared.”
No details could be observed while watching the objects through binoculars.

An Indiana couple driving along a country road as they approached Abington watched a “bright, red object” shoot up into the sky from a nearby cornfield and move out of sight in seconds.
“We both saw a bright, red object come off the ground of a cornfield and shoot straight into the air and was out of sight in seconds,” the reporting witness stated.
The object originated from a large cornfield observed to the right of their vehicle.
“This was a pretty large field in the country and I haven’t a clue as to what it could have been. I noticed the object, which was to my right and ahead of my current location, because it was so dark out and the red light was very noticeable.”
No images or video were included with the MUFON report. The incident occured in February 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Abington is an unincorporated town in Wayne County, Indiana.
And just to include a little history from our UFO past – UFO investigator pioneer Donald Keyhoe appeared on “The Mike Wallace Interview,” ABC, on March 8, 1958. The three-part video is a fascinating look back at how mainstream media conducted interviews with UFO researchers – continually falling back on official word from the U.S. government.
Keyhoe, June 20, 1897 – November 29, 1988 – was an American Marine Corps aviator, writer, and promotional tour manager for Charles Lindbergh – among the many accomplishments in his life.
Author Jerome Clark once wrote: “Keyhoe was widely regarded as the leader in the field” of ufology in the 1950s and early-to-mid 1960s.” (The UFO Book: Encyclopedia of the Extraterrestrial. Visible Ink, 1998. ISBN 1-57859-029-9.)
Keyhoe founded the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) in 1956. The group pressed for Congressional hearings and investigations into UFOs and did achieve some success with the national media. Membership peaked at about 15,000 in the early to mid 1960s. But membership dropped significantly in the late 1960s, while Keyhoe was charged with incompetence and authoritarianism. He retired as NICAP chief in 1969.
Keep watching the skies. And if you see a UFO, please report it to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) at mufon.com. I’ll be back next week with more reports from across the country.
