The PLR is the scientific backbone of PRS.  Its mission is to expand our knowledge of the paranormal in a scientifically viable form.  Only through repeated experimentation will the paranormal gain a foothold within the modern scientific community.  To this end, PLR focuses on laboratory settings (in strong contrast to the field studies of FIR) in order to ensure a clean environment, scientifically accepted methodologies, and well-documented experiments.

In addition to active experimentation, PLR also focuses heavily on research.  This includes using the latest technology, new scientific breakthroughs, new applications of older concepts, as well as using data gathered from FIR cases and applying it in new ways.  All of this culminates in a branch of PRS that pushes the bounds of engineering and scientific theory within the paranormal.  A new theory is born every day.  It’s the PLR’s task to put them all to the test.
