PRS INVESTIGATES: WEST VIRGINIA STATE PENITENTIARY

Details

PRS is hosting a private, multi-night investigation of West Virginia State Penitentiary (WVP) this Spring! WVP is considered one of the most haunted and active locations on the east coast. Featured on an episode of “Paranormal State,” as well as countless other paranormal shows, PRS is excited to return. This time, we’ll be investigating WVP on multiple nights. This will allow us the chance to get used to the location and adjust investigation techniques.

In the past, we’ve captured photographic evidence of a “shadow man” figure in the hallways, heard and documented disembodied voices, experienced intelligent knockings and bangings and even being touched. The prison is massive and definitely not for the faint of heart. WVP used to house some of the worst, violent criminals in the U.S. During our stay, we’ll have access to virtually all areas (except for the Warden’s area, which is too unsafe to venture in to).

On Thursday, we’ll meet at the hotel HQ for a social and dinner, followed by a private investigation. On Friday, we’ll tour the mounds and go over a game plan for our investigation. Friday night from 10pm – 5am, we’ll do set-up and investigating parts of the prison. We’ll set up “stations” to conduct EVP, Gansfeld, spirit communication and more. On Saturday, we’ll regroup and plan for the second part, and resume at 10pm until dawn.

If someone needs a nap break, we will set and decide on stations for people to relax and get some shut eye. We recommend bringing a sleeping bag and pillow.

Note: This event is investigation-centered. There will be social times, but for the most part, we aim to research the location and conduct various investigation techniques at the prison.

Lodging: You are responsible for your own lodging. We will all be staying at the Holiday Inn in Moundsville, WV. It is relatively close to the hotel.

Event Ends: The event will conclude at the end of Investigation Night Two. Most people will go back to the hotel to get some sleep, but we’ll formally say our goodbye’s as we leave WVP. Of course, we will continue to share our evidence on the website and in Discord.

TWO FULL NIGHTS WITHIN THE PRISON!

We believe investigating a location for more than one night increases the chances for capturing something otherworldly. We start the investigation as a group and attempt to communicate with the spirits before breaking off into stations. And since the location is massive, we’ll be able to break off into smaller groups to investigate the medical center, the common areas, the Sugar Shack, the jail cells and much more!

PARTICIPATE IN SPIRITUAL EXPERIMENTS!

One of the things that make PRS investigation events unique is that we tailor experiments that we feel will be effective for our location. From Gansfeld, historical reenactments to isolation, there will be quite a few setups for this event that we will will increase our chances to communicate with the otherworldly.

MAKE NEW, LIFELONG FRIENDS AT OUR SMALLER EVENTS

Since PRS first started hosting events, attendees have made new friendships with people who come from all over the country. Most people come solo, not knowing anyone. Not only do we come together for a common interest in the paranormal, but many of us leave with lifelong connections. Our investigation events are smaller, which allows for more one-on-one interaction.

Carpooling

We will help facilitate carpooling for this event. We’ve done our best to compact our traveling, but this will include some driving and walking. PRS attendees are known for being friendly and people have had zero problems grouping together for excursions. Once you purchase a ticket, you’ll also receive an invite to our PRS Discord chat page. It’s a private app where you can talk with other attendees leading up to the event. It also helps us stay in touch. Bottom line, we’ll make sure everyone gets from Point A to Point B.

Frequently Asked Questions

EMAIL US AT SOCIETY@THE-PRS.ORG FOR QUESTIONS

I’m not an experienced paranormal investigator.  Is this for me?

You do not need to be an experienced investigator to enjoy this investigation event.  It is for novices and seasoned investigators, alike.

I’m coming by myself and I don’t know anyone.  I’m afraid of not fitting in.

Everyone started out just like you.  But please know that you’ll be amongst like-minded people, and it is VERY easy to make friends.  We are all sharing in an adventure together.  A unique life experience during this 4-day event.  You will have a good time as long as you have a good attitude about you.

Are We Allowed To Bring Paranormal Investigation Equipment? Yes.  We encourage this.

Is alcohol permitted on site?

We politely ask people not to drink before or during investigation activities. It usually leads to some pretty bad behavior. Altered states of mind and the paranormal do not mix.

Is drug use permitted on site?

Are you kidding?

What do I need to bring to be comfortable at this event?

Since this event will be in the mid-south at the end of Spring, we are anticipating warm/mild weather. However, it is important to check the weather forecast as we get closer to the event. Most events are indoors, except for the cemetery excursions and ghost tours, which will be held at night.

Are the investigations going to be too intense for me?

It’s hard to answer that question. Everyone has their own personal boundary. Here’s what WON’T happen: you won’t be left alone against your will. If you a frightened, there will be experienced investigators who will be able to talk with you and if need be, walk you out if you feel unsafe. PRS will not allow for things to break out into hysterics.

With that being said, we are going into some of the most active places in America. Thankfully, they’ve been well investigated, so people typically know what to expect. A lot of activity has been reported in all the locations we are investigating (especially including the battlefields, even in the daytime). Above everything, we hope you enjoy yourself.
